Is this YOU?
Grateful to have finally finished!
Ready but unsure?
Assured yet anxious?
Confident but fearful?
Excited and nervous?
If you are reading this, I presume you are a newly qualified / registered professional?
Perhaps you are a Nurse,
a Teacher? Lawyer? Accountant? Physiotherapist? Orthoptist? Occupational Therapist? Diagnostic or Therapeutic Radiographer?
Speech and Language Therapist?
A different Allied Health Professional?
Maybe you are a Medic, or a
Physician's Associate?
Or a member of a profession I haven't included here
(if so, please accept my apologies!).
Maybe you are a manager with responsibility for supporting newly qualified staff?
Whether you are reading this for yourself or as a manager... please know, or remember (!) that newly qualified professionals experience the uncomfortable feelings associated with navigating a liminal space.... and this can lead to staff leaving the organisation.
Mary’s Place provides a safe space for reflection and growth. We are a group of established professionals (nurses, lawyers, teachers) who support newly registered professionals. We remember how difficult those first few weeks / months / years can be and we want to make that transition easier for new professionals. In addition to over 150 years of professional experience, we embrace a holistic and slightly maverick approach…in addition to our professional expertise, we have sourced an eclectic mix of practitioners: a sound bath expert, a reiki master, a laughter coach and a nature coach.
Mary’s Place is the go-to place for newly registered professionals to enable them to make the transition from student to professional with grace and confidence. Mary’s Place has a thriving online community and offers monthly face to face retreats in beautiful surroundings.
At Mary’s Place, we encourage you to look for the good things that happen daily and express gratitude for those small blessings. We offer a space for reflection; with the intention that in doing this, you will gain self-awareness. Key to the mission of Mary’s Place is connectedness. We want you to connect. Swap contact details, make WhatsApp groups, go for coffee. Most connections are for a reason, some for a season and a special few are for a lifetime.
Let Mary’s Place help you find your spark (you can’t start a fire without a spark) and then be the kindling to support you to become the best version of you- the on fire version of you! Ultimately Mary’s Place aims to empower you.
I have been a nurse for over 30 years and a lecturer for almost 20 - there is some overlap, I am only in my 50's!
I have always been passionate about supporting nursing students and I have delivered hundreds of staff development days for nurses and allied health professionals.
I have recently been on a journey of personal self-development, I got so much out of the experience I re-trained, and I am a Certified Mindfulness and Resilience Coach. Whilst teaching a leadership module for nursing students, I decided I wanted to set up a not for profit business to support newly qualified nurses. As I started to share my idea with friends and colleagues it became clear that my surviving to thriving framework would support professionals beyond nursing...
Thus...Mary's Place CIC was born - welcome to the evolution!
About Mary's Place CIC
My original vision had been to have a 'place' a physical building. But for now, we are nomads. Our Mary's Place CIC retreats / well-being days, take place in the best (affordable) venues in West Lancashire, Merseyside and Cheshire, providing a safe space where you can relax and connect with likeminded individuals. We also have an online community.
Mary's Place CIC is embryonic and responsive to your needs. Whilst we at Mary's Place cannot improve the current workplace challenges such as staff shortages and tremendous pressure... WE CAN 100% help you to manage yourself and how you deal with challenges.
You have worked hard at University and are excited to join your chosen profession?
You want to enjoy your job and go to work feeling inspired rather than fearful?
You want to enjoy your time off (and new salary!) without thinking about work?
You would value the support of people who have survived and thrived in this experience!
You would love to be part of a supportive network of people in a similar position to you
Will you meet me at Mary's Place?

The feeling of being 'betwixt and between'. You have left the position of 'not knowing' something, but there is no going back... you are in the messy middle.... good days and bad days and everything in-between. We know that being in a liminal space can be exhausting, but with the right support, it is a time for transformative growth. Trust us - we have been there too! We will help you not only survive the liminal space... but THRIVE!
The imposter syndrome - a totally normal feeling which affects most of us - especially those of us who are reflective high achievers. Essentially, Imposter Syndrome is your mind's protective mechanism to keep you safe. Do you ever experience these thoughts?
"Who am I to be doing this?"
"What if I make a mistake... they will then find out I've been winging it!"
"Phew, I got away with it, that time"
"I don't deserve the praise, it was just luck, anyone could have done it"
Transitioning to your new role with GRACE
This is our UNIQUE Mary's Place success framework. All of our sessions include activities to encourage Gratitude, Reflection, Awareness, Connection and Empowerment. So very simple but incredibly powerful.
At Mary's Place, we embrace the liminal space with GRACE!
"Inspirational... made me feel more positive and excited about qualifying rather than scared"
"Feels safe and comfortable to get involved."
"I would describe it as a 'warm' course which sounds strange but it always felt like a safe space, where we could be ourselves and learn about ourselves... I really enjoyed it."
"A safe space was created for open, authentic conversation"
